Screws, Gears, and Pride is a song by Akuno-P and uniMemo-P released on August 10, 2009. It was the second collaborative song between the two producers and much like the first one this one focuses on the meeting of two "Rins".

PlotEdit

The song takes place in a toy factory. A defect doll assigned serial number BMD2-R is left in the garbage disposal on floor 43 because she differs from the others like her model. Not wanting to be destroyed, she calls out for the other toys to help her flee, the only toy that listens to her is another defect doll of the same model as her, serial number SN7F-R. Not wanting the "Irregulars" to escape, the C factory corporation unleashes a weapon made by "I Company" named G to get rid of them. Whilst fleeing, they run into another toy who resembles them, TYPE-L. He congratulates them on managing to escape the garbage disposal, wishing them well and hoping that they make it out and learn of the outside world, but then encourages them to run as G is still chasing after them.[1]

LyricsEdit

「C factory」

Made in order to create
With the same appearance, in order to be loved equally
I of the serial number “BMD2”
Awoke inside a garbage treatment plant

Again I’ve been thrown here alone
Defective goods aren’t considered necessary
Escape from the basement of “C factory”, the 43rd floor,
Is an impossible thing

“Toys meant to be loved don’t need any individuality”
“A mass produced model is like a mass produced model”
Our existence disturbs that rule
To them, that was an unforgivable thing

Buried in scrap iron are screws, gears, and pride
If that’s natural, why were we born?
Irregular who had gained an ego, our having met like this
That was the beginning of one miracle
That occurred in an ostentatious world…

I knew of the route going outside
A dilapidated exhaust port without a lock
Why then, although everyone should know of it
Has no one tried to move?

I knew of the outside world
There isn’t anything good there at all
But you do your best, don’t you?
I’ll consider it, just a little

“Don’t misunderstand, because this isn’t really for you!”
“Mhm, I know, thank you very much!”
Come, our battle begins now
From this garbage processing plant to a new world

If we were born normally, could we have lived happily?
Our defective selves, can they really not be loved by anyone?
To ascertain that, now the two of us shall escape from here
The beginning of one adventure
That occurred in an ostentatious world

Eventually you’ll arrive at many meetings and farewells
Eventually you’ll learn about many things

What is normal? Is that the right thing?
But now you should just intently continue running

Buried in scrap iron are screws, gears, and pride
If that’s natural, why were we born?
Irregular who had gained an ego, our having met like this
That was the beginning of one miracle
That occurred in an ostentatious world…

TriviaEdit

CuriositiesEdit

  • Though there is nothing that visibly connects the song to the Clockwork Lullaby series, mothy listed it as "Clockwork Lullaby A" in a list of all of his songs.[2]
  • In Evils Forest, Ma's commentary on the song notes it as taking place in a "parallel world" to that of the Evillious Chronicles.[3]
  • In-universe, "Type-L" is the designation of a kind of Black Box invented by Levia Barisol.
