"You who deceived us all... I as well, and even the twin gods too. Surely you are alive. Original Sinner—  Eve Zvezda."
―Elluka Clockworker[src]

Eve Moonlit, born Eve Zvezda and known posthumously as the Original Sinner, was a witch from Nemu in the Kingdom of Elphegort and the wife of Adam Moonlit. Brainwashed, Eve fell madly in love with Adam and allowed herself to be experimented on for Project 'Ma'. After failing to give birth to her twins, Eve and her lover fled to Held's Forest and married, living out their lives in seclusion. Traumatized by her failure to have children, Eve's thoughts and actions led to the creation of the Original Sin, the source of the vessels of sin.

History

Project 'Ma'

"You will now become the mother of gods: the Ma."
―Adam to Eve[src]

Born in the village of Nemu in the Kingdom of Elphegort in BT 021,[1] Eve grew up to become a powerful witch.[2] Around BT 005, Eve encountered Adam Moonlit. Given the brainwashing drug, Venom,[3] Eve fell in love with the scientist and followed him back to the royal institute in Levianta. Passing the tests admirably, Eve was submitted as a test subject for Project 'Ma'.[4]

Kissing her, Adam told Eve that she would be the mother of the gods, the Mem Aleph.[5] Eve, unsure about why she was there, was embraced by her lover and told that it was okay. At some point, she told Adam she wanted to get married with him in Held's Forest afterwards.[6] After being implanted with the Seed of God, Eve carried and later gave birth to her children, Cain and Abel.[7] However, they were born dead.[8]

Eve, covered in blood, screaming hysterically

"My children are nowhere to be found!"
―Eve during her hysterics[src]

With the project a failure, the witch and her lover, Adam,[9] fled from the Magic Kingdom Levianta to Held's Forest in Elphegort.[10]  Eventually they arrived in the forest, living in a small house as woodcutters.[11] Soon after, the two married in the woods, telling each other that they loved one another.[12]

At some point, Eve became caught up in the riots caused by Apocalypse. Covered in blood, the witch became hysterical and screamed that she could not find her children.[13] Over time, Eve became envious of those who had children, wanting to have what she lost. In EC 001, she discovered two fruits on the ground. In her hunger, she took them, certain they were god's gifts to her and that Adam would cry from joy if he saw what she found.[14]

While heading back home, Eve found herself chased by the looming shadow of a bear and began running away with the fruits in hand.[15] Unwilling to give up her "happiness", Eve hurried on despite knowing the fruits were the bear's "treasures".[16] Eve cried as she ran and stumbled through the forest before finally reaching her home, fleeing from the bear close behind her.[17] Just outside her home, Eve looked back to see the bear lurching at her and, with her eyes turning red, killed it as it barely clawed off her cloak.[18]

Evebear

The "bear" reaches for Eve

Exasperated, Eve entered her home with the fruits still in hand and was greeted by Adam. Seeing the fruits, Eve saw his smiling face descend into horror.[19] As Adam explained to her how their children were already dead and that she needed to return "these children" to their mother,[20] Eve's delusions broke and she recognized the "fruits" she stole were actually twins: a boy and a girl.

Mortified, Eve screamed at the revelation, realizing her crime but refusing to give up the stolen children.[21] After Adam told her that she could still fix it if she gave them back now,[22] she retorted that she couldn't because she had already killed a woman, not a bear, outside their home who was carrying a small milk bottle: the mother.[23]

With the mother dead and children orphaned, Adam and Eve kept the stolen children and raised them as their own. In EC 014, a year after the Levianta Catastrophe, the effects of the disaster spread to Elphegort, causing a famine.[24] Reluctantly, the two agreed to abandon their foster children in the forest to starve to death so that they could survive the famine. With a gloomy expression, Eve and her husband led their foster children deep into the forest before abandoning them and returning home.[25]

Devastated by the event, Eve mourned the loss of their foster children while Adam comforted her. Soon after, they heard a knock on the door and answered, horrified to see the manic expressions of their abandoned children at the entrance. Suddenly grabbed by the spectral shadows the twins spawned, Eve's foster daughter happily implored her mother to praise her for defeating the wicked witch. While their children laughed,[26] Eve was shoved into the house's oven by the shadowy arms and burned alive.[27]

Demon of Sloth

"The one representing "Sloth" of the vessels of sin... It didn't exist originally. Now, what could've happened to the Demon of Sloth? The answer is simple. A demon wasn't lodged into the vessel; a person was."
―Eve regarding her situation[src]

After her death, Eve's soul became one of the seven demons scattered across the world by Hänsel and Gretel. Accepting her alias as the "Demon of Sloth", Eve used the Swap Technique to take a human as her vessel and possess their descendants down the family line, influencing the newborn children she inhabited in the womb to share her appearance.[28] When her latest vessel died in EC 118, Eve possessed her unborn granddaughter, influencing the fetus to share her visage.

The girl, Mikulia Greeonio, became Eve's new host. After seeing I.R. give Mikulia the Clockworker's Doll  she had fashioned, Eve migrated to the doll as her new vessel; she and her vessel were later taken by the mage when she left the Venomania Mansion in EC 137.[29] Afterward, Eve conversed with the mage, Irina Clockworker, about both their pasts; the witch learned about Irina's future sister-in-law Elluka Clockworker having been revived after Irina had killed her, and about how Irina's brother Kiril had gone about revitalizing Elluka via the ark Sin, hence Levianta's destruction. As the years progressed, Irina continuously experimented on Eve to try instilling a new power the red cat mage could use to destroy everything, including the gods.

Flower of the Plateau

Main Article: Mikulia Calgaround

"Mikulia was supposed to have died long ago, so then her going to Calgaround, becoming the wife of a fuedal lord, and causing an incident—I had thought if it was perhaps another person of the same name. But the one who had been drawn in the portrait was unmistakably Mikulia herself."
―Elluka Clockworker[src]

Years after the Venomania Event, the Clockworker's Doll was activated, putting everyone around her including Eve herself under a powerful hypnosis. The Doll then assumed Mikulia's identity, crafting a new persona and becoming a florist, settling in Calgaround in EC 141. Garnering fame as the "Flower of the Plateau", Mikulia believed herself to be the former prostitute while Eve slumbered in her subconscious.[30] After murdering two connections to "her" past, Mikulia killed her husband using the poison Gift in EC 151.[31] After Countess Mikulia's death, Eve's memories returned and she awakened.[32]

Phantom Thief Platonic

Main Article: Platonic

"Once, you spent time as a human of another era. And the both of us worked together for a little bit."
"Heheheh, so you noticed. How nostalgic... During that time, I was given a lot of unfair missions, Elluka."
―Elluka and Eve[src]

During the EC 300's, the Clockworker's Doll was activated once more and she assumed herself to be a daughter of the Calgaround Family.[33] Becoming known as the Phantom Thief Platonic, the infamous thief was hired by the mage AB-CIR to steal a red wine glass from Duke Banica Conchita in EC 325. Initially failing,[34] she was forcibly employed by Elluka Clockworker after being tasked to steal the Twin Blades of Levianta from her.

Later that year, Platonic managed to steal the glass from the sorceress while returning from their investigation of Banica's disappearance. After returning home to her family and later delivering the vessel to AB-CIR,[35] Platonic eventually died,[36]  reawakening Eve from her slumber again. The mage eventually reacquired the Doll sometime afterward.[37]

Story of Evil

"It looks like Michaela, but Mother told me that it's modeled after a different person. Yeah, she said it was the "Original Sinner"..."
―King Kyle[src]

In EC 482, the Doll was one of the vessels given to Prim Marlon by her court mage, Abyss I.R. During the Battle of Castle Hedgehog in EC 505, Prim brought the vessel of Sloth with her, stroking its head while she lay in the uppermost room of the clocktower. After being confronted by her son, Kyle, Prim invoked Eve's power in order to control the Demon of Lust in one of the vessel of Pride's fragments. Once Prim was killed by her daughter, Ney, Eve revoked the power she lent.

The doll was later collected by Kyle and brought with him to Lioness Castle. Shortly after, Abyss I.R. stole the Doll along with the other vessels of sin before fleeing to Lucifenia.[38] Once the mage was defeated, the Doll fell into the hands of Elluka and her apprentice and was successfully sealed.[39] It was later retrieved by Abyss I.R. and the seal was removed. Around the EC 560s, Irina successfully infused Eve with the ability to conjure the Court at the red cat mage's command.

Third Sleep Princess

Main Article: Margarita Blankenheim

"We... all of us... have been deceived!"
―Dr. Marx Felix[src]

In EC 593, Julia Abelard replaced the corpse of Marx Felix's stillborn daughter with the Doll and activated it, causing Eve to believe she was Margarita Felix.[40] Fixated on marrying her beloved Kaspar Blankenheim, Margarita lapsed into depression during her loveless marriage to the philandering marquis. Comforted by Mayrana Blossom, the girl joined the woman's criminal organization, Père Noël, as "Third Sleep Princess" and helped with their illegal operations.

After Mayrana gave her the formula for Gift, the marchioness went on a psychopathic rampage, killing her husband and decimating her hometown of Toragay with her experimental creations.[41] Suffering from the resurging memories of Eve's past transmigrations,[42] Margarita refined a Seventh Gift at the Mayrana's mansion in Calgaround. She then ingested her own poison, unlocking Eve's fragmented memories and deciding to head to the forest before finally dying.[43]

Confrontation in the Forest

"Are you vainly attempting to deceive me? I already know—who your true identity is!"
―Elluka to Eve[src]

Shortly after Eve's consciousness reawakened, the Doll left the mansion. Weeks later, in November of EC 609, she traveled to the Millennium Tree Forest, walking into the clearing where the New Millennium Tree was located. As Gumillia and Michaela stared at her in shock, the Doll caught Elluka's attention and then went to wait for her in her old home, the abandoned house. Sitting down in a chair, Eve greeted Elluka as she entered, commenting on how it felt to be brought to the cottage.

She then related how her memory returned after she drank the Seventh Gift and listened to Elluka surmise that it was a gift of origin for her. Eve agreed, continuing on how, once Margarita went to sleep forever, she had awakened. She then listened with a gentle smile as Elluka gave her summation of what had occurred and how she had replaced the real Margarita Felix when the baby died.

The Doll then noted that everyone was convinced she had been revived and Elluka claimed such was her ability as the Demon of Sloth, the Doll listening quietly as the sorceress speculated on her powers of hypnosis. She then stated that, from the beginning, everyone was asleep and rose from her chair, sitting on the nearby bed. The Doll mused on how she was also Margarita, however, as up until her death, misled by her overwhelming power, the girl had believed herself to be a real human.

Then, as Elluka claimed that the same had happened with another human she had worked with in the past, Eve laughed and remarked on her nostalgia and how she had been given many unfair missions in that time. As Elluka went on, saying that she had believed Platonic to be the descendant of Mikulia but that Mikulia's child had been killed and disposed of, the Doll asked why Mikulia couldn't have had descendants with the lord Calgaround.

When Elluka asserted that Mikulia had died in Asmodean from childbirth, Eve rose again and picked flowers from gaps in the floor. She then stated that she had been the "Flower of the Plateau" as well, as Elluka continued on how she had initially believed Mikulia Calgaround to be a different person but whom she found to be unmistakably like Mikulia. Eve stated that her body was originally made by I.R. to simulate Mikulia's appearance and that such wasn't odd. She then laughed, noting the sorceress' shock, and remarked that she apparently hadn't known this.

Saying she would explain for her, the Doll went to the corner of the room and leaned against the fireplace. She then elaborated for Elluka on how the "Sloth" demon hadn't existed originally, and that a person had been lodged in the vessel in its place, who would then change to a new host each generation and make their appearance like hers until I.R. created the new vessel. When she heard the sorceress exclaim it was the Swap Technique, the Doll asked if such was so, wondering if the technique was used by a human mage, as for a demon it would be unnecessary.

Eve then watched as Elluka asked if she was trying to deceive her, declaring she already knew her true identity; as the sorceress crossed over and grabbed the Doll around the neck, Eve told her to stop and that it was painful. When Elluka refuted the statement, saying that a doll wouldn't know pain, Eve finally removed the hypnosis she had over the mage and allowed her to see her true form as the Gine doll. She laughed and said she would again show her her form of a hundred years ago.

Questioning Elluka of what her true identity was, Eve listened quietly as she mused that, as a vessel of Sloth didn't exist, the Doll couldn't be the Demon of Sloth, and that she could only think of one person who could have done this. Lifted up high by Elluka as the sorceress stated she had deceived them all, Eve heard her call her the Original Sinner, Eve Zvezda.

Laughing hysterically, Eve said that it was a good guess, but told the sorceress she was a little off; she clarified that it was Eve Moonlit, as she changed her name after marrying Adam. When Elluka asked for what purpose she had been living, the Doll stated there was no purpose and asked the sorceress about the reverse, asking if she was living just to collect the vessels of sin. Eve then mused that that had only been her reasoning after the fact.

Noting with amusement how the mage had discovered everything, Eve commended Elluka and said she would give her a gift as a reward, asking her if she wanted poison, poison, or poison before breaking into maniacal laughter. She then witnessed Elluka say she would end this and tighten her grip on the Doll's neck. Elluka declared that, although she didn't see the collapse of the Magic Kingdom as inevitable, the power of humanity had developed to the point that mages, gods, and demons were unnecessary; in response, Eve offered to let Elluka die quickly.

When the sorceress responded that she would first erase Eve from this world, the Doll sarcastically asked her to try, asking her if she'd tighten her grip on her neck until she broke. Eve continued that it was futile, as even if she lost her doll body she would find a new vessel, whether a sword or glass or human. As she declared that she couldn't be destroyed, Elluka cut her off with a spell and Eve's body was bathed in a green light while Elluka's was bathed in a pink light.

Guessing that it was the Swap Technique, Eve began to voice her realization before Elluka confirmed it. She then asked what the point of exchanging their bodies was before the sorceress cut her off again, claiming they would not be exchanging bodies and that, instead, Eve's soul would be brought into her and destroyed. The Doll weakly said there was no way such was possible, and Elluka replied they wouldn't know without trying.

With the sorceress stating she didn't care if the technique destroyed herself as well, Eve desperately attempted to talk her out of it, exclaiming the destruction of Magic Kingdom Levianta wasn't her fault. Elluka only replied that if Eve was the "Original Sinner" then she was the same, adding that it wasn't just her but Kiril, Irina, Eve, and even the people of the Magic Kingdom who shared fault in its destruction.

As Elluka then prepared to bring Eve into her body, the Doll weakly cried for her to stop. The sorceress then said she was glad to get a gift from her, if the gift was her herself, and the two silently battled each other in the cottage. After fifteen minutes, Elluka's pink light consumed the entire cottage and Eve's soul was torn from her doll vessel.[44] Drawn into her spirit, the mage's consciousness was suppressed and slumbered in Elluka's mind while the mage utilized her magical power for herself.

Duel of Merrigod Plateau

"Awaken—  Master of the Court."
―Irina summoning the Court[src]

During the Duel of Merrigod Plateau on January 30, EC 611, Eve's consciousness was awakened after Elluka was caught in the blast of Black Box Type S; as a result, Eve was transported to Levia's inner psychological world. Afterward, the witch ascended the staircase of the massive temple before her. Once she reached the top, she blankly stared at Gumillia, Behemo, and Irina already waiting on other sides of the temple square. The witch then passively watched Levia join them and discuss "Elluka Clockworker's" true identity with Irina.

After they finished their conversation, Irina approached Eve and wrapped an arm around her while she described the completion of her experiments fifty years ago. She then whispered in her ear for the "Master of the Court" to awaken and Eve immediately transformed Levia's mental world into the Court. As Irina boasted about what she accomplished with the Clockworker's Doll and prepared to continue her duel with the twin gods in the reset stage, the Demon of Gluttony intervened and clashed with the gods instead, resulting in Irina, Levia, and Eve's souls fusing together as a new being in Elluka Clockworker's body: Ma.

World's End

"You all are truly terrible children. You forget the kindness you were brought up with and turn against me... You aren't needed anymore. Children who must be free of me are already unnecessary. Unlike you all, this Gift is a very sweet child... If I tell it something, it obediently listens to whatever say."
―Eve to Allen and Clarith[src]

At some point, Eve's soul was separated from Ma and eventually returned to her vessel. After the destruction of the Third Period in EC 998, Eve left her vessel and traveled to Toragay in the guise of Margarita. Refining an eighth Gift formula that could put even human souls to sleep, the Sleep Princess raised her arms above her head and unleashed her new poison into the air, spreading it across the Evillious region as it put the souls of the Hellish Yard into a deep slumber. Some time after, Eve noticed a blond boy resembling Hänsel approach with a Netsuma and coldly asked if he had come to kill her again.

When the boy asked the reason for her actions, the Sleep Princess state that he and his companions were terrible children and therefore unnecessary. As the boy demanded she answer his question, Eve continued that her Gift was a sweet child, obediently listening to whatever she told it to do. Afterward, she commanded her "adorable" Gift to freely play even more, spreading around her in an even thicker fog. As the boy attempted to approach her while avoiding the poison, the mad witch glared at him. Telling him to come, she manipulated the Eighth Gift toward him, forcing him to relent and maintain his distance.

Shortly after, Eve heard a voice calling out from above and saw a clown resembling Hänsel descending from the sky. As the boy declared they were watching the show of the magnificent Lemy Abelard, Eve directed her poison around him and the clown began sealing it away in the Clockworker's Doll. Furious, the Sleep Princess coldly commanded him to stop and not come. Lemy then declared she should be relieved since she wasn't being put in a furnace again before sealing Eve back into the doll.[45]

Legacy

"I do not know the name of the husband, but the wife's name was… Eve. Yes, Eve Moonlit. It must have been a name like that. In this forest, she committed the "Sin"."
―Ma[src]

In the wake of her death, the other six vessels of sin created from Eve's Original Sin unleashed havoc on numerous occasions, corrupting their holders and causing catastrophes for nearly a millennium in the Evillious region.[46] Eve herself became known as the "Original Sinner", and was regarded with disdain for her actions during her lifetime. The spirit Michaela, when asked by Elluka to imagine the image of an Elphe woman, pictured Eve the night she stole the twins from Meta. She then incarnated as a human with the witch's visage.[47]

Centuries later, in EC 982, Eve and her husband's skeletal corpses were discovered while their long abandoned home was being demolished for the construction of Evil's Theater. Afterwards, a graveyard was constructed around the theater grounds.[48] The playwright Ma wrote several screenplays concerning Eve's actions at Evil's Theater and they were made into films. While watching the film with another visitor, Ma related how Eve's kidnapping-murder in the forest had begun it all.[49]

Eve's transmigrations were recorded in history to varying degrees, many earning folklore or rumor being passed on through the centuries. Due to their nature, few records existed regarding the actual birth or death date of many of her different personas.[50] While never widely accepted by the public, the Clockworker's Doll was recorded by Will Jaques as one of the vessels of sin in the possession of the mysterious mage "I.R." and "AB-CIR", though the true nature of its "demon" was never discovered.[51]

Personality and Traits

"She depended on the love she had with her husband. She had been conceited in her wish coming true. Because she didn't do what she had to, her neglected children died. She envied people who were happy. Soon, it turned into wrath. She wanted what she had lost. And then, in her hunger, she picked up those fruits. That was the beginning of it all."
―Ma regarding Eve's darker intentions[src]

MoonlitBearfruit

Eve displaying her delusional obsession

Eve was a raving madwoman, broken by her own evil intentions and centuries of a pointless existence. Due to the Venom drug used on her, Eve became deeply enamored with Adam and submitted completely to his will.[52] She held a great amount of faith in his decisions during her time in the project, despite being unaware of what she had become a part of.[53]

Because of this, she felt deeply connected to the twins she conceived for the project and considered them her and Adam's children. Her favorite place was Held's Forest and wanted to be married there with her husband alone after they completed the project.[54] Completely conceited in the belief that her wish would come true, the witch became negligent in doing what she needed to for her soon to be born children.[55]

With the project's failure, Eve was greatly affected by Cain and Abel's deaths and suffered flashbacks when covered in blood, frantically searching and crying out for her missing children.[56] With their loss, Eve became distraught and grew embittered by the event; she envied those that found happiness in their lives and became angry as a result. This emptiness and anger turned into a desire to regain what she had lost and Eve eventually began developing a delusional mental state.

When stealing Hänsel and Gretel, Eve perceived the twins as fruits and, hungry, gladly took them.[57] Obsessed with having them, Eve regarded the "fruits" as something that would surely make her and her husband happy.[58] Despite this, she had understood that her prizes were taken from the "bear" chasing her and,[59] although treating them like the children she sought after, continued to maintain the belief they were fruit. Because of this, she wasn't bothered to steal them or kill the "bear" when it caught up to her.[60]

However, she indicated some understanding of what the reality had been, having recognized that she had actually killed the children's mother.[61] Due to Adam's words, Eve's delusions of the time had been broken and her shock was large enough to make her scream.[62] Despite having acted out of wicked intentions,[63] Eve was horrified by her actions, although still desiring to keep her "tender fruits" no matter what happened.[64] Regardless, witnesses perceived her to have gone mad with malice during her actions.[65]

While taking care of the children, both Eve and her husband did all they could to hide their existence. Eve was also a capable and loving mother to them, earning her children's affection and trust in the years since taking them in. Despite her obsession to have children, Eve willingly abandoned them in the forest and left them to die after a famine had swept through Elphegort,[66] albeit deeply saddened by the decision.[67] Following her death and worsening madness, Eve became completely resentful of the twins, instead humanizing the Gift poisons she created as her true children, valuing their "obedience" to her will.

After becoming the "demon" for the vessel of Sloth, Eve decided to continue her existence on a whim, giving no real purpose to her life. As a result, she ironically lazed about throughout the centuries largely in inertia, save for the few times the Doll was used and she underwent self-hypnosis. While "sleeping", Eve's false identities lived out their lives with varied personalities; still, Eve's subconscious self seemingly inclined them to cause disasters, spread malice, and pursue anyone resembling her beloved Adam, something rational only to her own twisted reasoning.

While she maintained her own sense of self, Eve considered herself both intrinsically a part of and different from her transmigrations and seemed to look at their lives as small distractions for her. Typical of her conceit, the mad witch believed herself practically invincible. She similarly took pleasure in the lives taken by her and her transmigrations, even playfully teasing about her other selfs' common use of poison. Adding to this, the mage enjoyed toying with Elluka and openly mocked the mage whenever she could.

Regardless, Eve could be scared and was terrified upon seeing Hänsel and Gretel at her doorstep. Likewise, she feared Elluka's attempt to use the Swap Technique to destroy her and desperately tried to convince the mage to avoid a potential murder-suicide. Eve's favorite place was Held's Forest and she hoped to marry Adam there.[68]  After being made one of the demons, Eve continued to associate the forest with the love she shared with her husband, considering herself a "sleep" princess while he was her prince.

Skills and Abilities

"Taste the menace of—The Original Sinner Eve Moonlit!"
―Elluka utilizing Eve's powers[src]

Eve was exceptionally skilled in magic and was arguably the best witch in the Magic Kingdom Levianta at the time; due to her abilities, she became the first candidate for Project 'Ma' after passing the tests, and was expected to successfully birth the twin gods.[69] Her abilities included wielding lightning magic. She also possessed the powerful Swap Technique, allowing Eve to transfer a nearby soul, including her own, to another nearby body or object at will.

After becoming the "Demon of Sloth", Eve employed powerful hypnosis that could be projected as a field, manipulating people's perceptions and recollection of events as she pleased. As a result, she was able to make her vessel be perceived as an ordinary human; her hypnosis could also be used on herself, forcing her consciousness to "sleep" while she lived out the lives of a human being. The hypnosis had the capability to simulate basic human gestures, such as eating, touching, moving, and talking for all affected individuals.

The hypnosis was strong enough to remain unnoticed by even skilled mages. As a side effect, Eve was unable to turn off the hypnosis while under its effects, resulting in her "transmigrations" being unable to experience fatigue or sleep.[70] However, the consciousness could regain the the subconscious memories of past transmigrations;[71] a catalyst unlocking said memories, such as the Seventh Gift, also held the potential to reawaken Eve.[72]

Because of this, Eve had the cumulative memories and experiences of her different incarnations, including all the knowledge they possessed. This resulted in her ability to magically create and improve an airborne version of Gift and manipulate it to her will. Due to Irina Clockworker's experimentation, Eve was also given the ability to conjure the Court at Irina's command, resetting the area so that all living things in existence were mortal.

Due to being the origin of the Demons of Sin and the replacement for Sloth, Eve was also immune to the other demons' influence, allowing her transmigrations to act on her own accord.[73] As a result, her transmigrations were inclined towards Sloth-like personalities similar to demonic possession and were subtly influenced by Eve's subconscious. In reverse, Eve suffered from similar weaknesses as the Demons of Sin, able to be completely sealed in her vessel or be forced to find a new one if it was destroyed.[74]

As her preferred "body" after becoming a "demon", the Clockworker's Doll had a hidden compartment around its stomach area, allowing it to store and transport small items safely.[75] Although largely made of sturdy Nechuha wood, the Doll's legs are made of softer material and are therefore more likely to be damaged. It also had a rather life-like human appearance, though only around 70 centimeters in height.[76]

Character Connections

Adam Moonlit: Eve's partner and later husband. Eve fell deeply in love with Adam over the course of Project 'Ma', accepting his marriage proposal and running away with him after the projects were a failure. Her marriage with him was a happy one and would often do things in hope of getting his approval, such as stealing the fruits, as well as taking comfort from him when conflicted over troubling matters.

Hänsel: Eve's foster son. Eve initially perceived Hänsel as a fruit and took him in hunger, believing he was crucial to her happiness. Though she later felt remorse for the theft after realizing Hänsel was a baby boy, she continued to want children and so raised him as her son. While later becoming desperate enough to abandon the boy during the famine in Elphegort, Eve felt great regret for doing so and was shocked when he returned.

Gretel: Eve's foster daughter. Eve initially perceived Gretel as a fruit and took her in hunger, believing she was crucial to her happiness. Though she later felt remorse for the theft when she realized Gretel was a baby girl, she continued to want children and so raised her as her daughter. While later becoming desperate enough to abandon the girl during the famine in Elphegort, Eve felt great regret for doing so and was shocked when she returned.

Meta Salmhofer: A woman Eve murdered. Despite meeting Meta before, Eve thought little of her except as an obstacle to obtaining the fruits. For a time Eve perceived her as a bear and, though guilty for the theft, desperately wanted to escape from her. After learning the truth, Eve was appalled by her murder of Meta and showed remorse for it afterwards.

Cain: Eve's stillborn child. Eve had looked forward to Cain's birth with great anticipation, as both her own child and the reincarnation of one of the Dragon Gods. Eve was unable to accept Cain's stillbirth and became desperate to replace the loss that resulted from it.

Abel: Eve's stillborn child. Eve had looked forward to Abel's birth with great anticipation, as both her own child and the reincarnation of one of the Dragon Gods. Eve was unable to accept Abel's stillbirth and became desperate to replace the loss that resulted from it.

Mikulia Calgaround: One of Eve's transmigrations. During her time as Mikulia, Eve's soul remained dormant, unaware of Mikulia's actions. Some time later she passed away, regaining memories of her "past self". Eve cared little for her past life, seeing it only for the malice she spread through it.

Platonic: Another one of Eve's transmigrations. Like Mikulia before her, Eve's soul slumbered during Platonic's life, ignorant of her actions until Platonic died; gaining her past memories. Eve teased Elluka about working with her as Platonic, saying she cared little for her time as the thief.

Margarita Blankenheim: Eve's most notorious transmigration. After drinking her own Gift, she passed away, allowing Eve's soul to become conscious, and gained her past memories. Although making use of her image later, Eve commented shortly after about caring little for that persona.

Trivia

Conceptualization and Origin

  • Eve Moonlit is inspired by Eve from Judeo-Christian mythology; like her biblical counterpart, she commits a grave act against God and is burdened with the Original Sin.
